It highlights two perspectives on how children acquire bilingual linguistic abilities and the impact of bilingualism on cognitive development and personality. The advantages of bilingualism are emphasized, including improvements in thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and perceptual analysis, as well as positive effects on the mental and emotional well-being of children. The article mentions that the influence of bilingualism can vary depending on contextual factors, such as socio-economic status. Additionally, it discusses the adaptation of children to new linguistic and cultural environments and underscores the importance of managing bilingual language development in these children. Recommendations and approaches are provided for educational psychologists in supporting bilingual children. |
