Исходя из того, что повествовательность и символ уже становятся основными эстетическими категориями, а символ, как феномен культуры, занимает одно из центральных мест во всех научных сферах, возникает необходимость искусствоведческих изучений данной проблематики. На современном этапе анализ повествовательности и символа в изобразительном искусстве и в искусстве книжной графики, в частности в молдавском искусствоведении, становится одной из важных и достаточно сложных задач. Одной из предпосылок стала установившаяся тенденция исторических исследований, в которых теоретический аспект является лишь сопутствующим процессу музейно-архивных изучений. Творческие биографии многих авторов не до конца освящены, не все ценные произведения введены в научный оборот, не установлена точная датировка или другие данные некоторых произведений искусства. В таком порядке исследований, изменения акцентов в сторону теоретизации выглядят не вполне обоснованными. Другой предпосылкой является противоречивое понимание понятий повествовательности и символа в науке и искусстве, их приближение к категориям прекрасного и безобразного, взаимопроникновение их различных аспектов и другие взаимосвязи. В данной статье автор делает попытку обоснования необходимости углубления в теорию вопроса, касающегося повествовательности и символа в молдавской книжной графике, предлагает возможные варианты классификации, что позволило бы определить некоторые ещё не выверенные критерии оценки произведений искусства молдавской книжной графики и установить новые цели и задачи исследований.

Recognizing that narration and a symbol already become the main aesthetic categories, and the symbol as the culture phenomenon, occupies one of the central places in all scientific spheres, there is a need of an art criticism studying of this perspective. At the present stage the analysis of narration and the symbol in the fine arts and in art of book graphics, in particular, in the Moldavian art criticism becomes one of important and enough complex challenges. The established tendency of historical researches in which the theoretical aspect is only accompanying process of museum and archival studying became one of prerequisites. Creative biographies of many authors aren't up to the end consecrated, not all valuable works are introduced into scientific circulation, exact dating or other data of some works of art aren't established. In such order of researches, changes of accents towards theorization look not quite reasonable. The other one prerequisite contains in the inconsistent understanding of concepts of narration and symbol in science and fine art, their approach to categories of fine and ugly, interpenetration of their various aspects and other interrelations. The author does attempt of justification of need of deepening in the theory of the question concerning narration and symbol in the Moldavian book graphics, offers possible options of classification that would allow to define some yet not verified criteria of an assessment of works of art of the Moldavian book graphics and to establish the new purposes and research problems. The set of researches of aesthetics, linguistic, art criticism character, dictionaries of the symbols and scientific monographs published in the different countries during various periods reflect the „symbol» and „narrative» concepts in different mood, therefore need generalization and structuring proceeding from the subject offered for studying. Thus, in attention specifics of genres or types of the fine arts often are not undertaken, one separate era, one type of fine art is represented, more rare the graphics, where the symbol and narration are reflected in book graphics indirectly. In article the studying of options of interpretation of narrative and symbol for the purpose of establishment of theoretical aspects of research, tracing of tendencies, scientific, historical and stylistic communications, etc. are undertaken further to pass to classification of symbols and narrative aspects in Moldavian book graphics art.
