The article focuses on two unpublished archival documents on the his-tory of the Raciula monastery and the commune with the same name which also includes the village of Parcani. In the middle of the 19th century, the mo-nastic centre in Raciula was still a hermitage, or in other words a small mo-nastery. The first document, which dates from 1847, is a record book belon-ging to priest Grigorii Ceaicovschi from the Raciula hermitage. The record book helps to shed light on the priest's life and work and to better understand some aspects of the religious life in Bessarabia in the 19th century. The se-cond document presented and analyzed in the article is a brief monographic description of the Raciula commune and monastery from 1943. The docu-ment contains important information about the past of the monastery and that of villages Raciula and Parcani. Both documents were found at the Nati-onal Archives of the Republic of Moldova.
