A s a result of economic development and technological progress there appeared the need of an adequate protection of industrial property at national, regional and global level. At present, in the Republic of Moldova it is created, efficiently functioning and developing a standard-legislative and up-to-date organizational system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, capable to comply with the increasing demands of both national and foreign applicants. In the field of mechanical engineering, the AGEPI has received for examination only 162 patent applications, this constituting 6% of the total number of filed applications. During this period, 111 patents or 7% of the total number of issued patents have been issued in the given field. In the field of mechanical engineering there are practically missing the applications filed under the international procedure on the part of both national and foreign applicants. To date, the inventors and innovators of our country have filed with the AGEPI only 102 utility model applications. The most unexplored space of technical creation in the field of mechanical engineering is the industrial design – under 20 applications, covering about 30 industrial designs.
