Background. This study is a theoretical approach and is based on the review of published papers in the field of open science. Objective of the study. The aim of the study is to analyze the concepts related to open science from a terminological and functional point of view, as well as to highlight the importance of implementing set of actionable European recommendations in the activity of Library I Material and Methods. This study is a theoretical approach and is based on the review of published papers in the field of open science. The European Commission, in particular the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, is developing a priority set of actionable recommendations from the Open Science Policy Platform (OSPP) to achieve these goals. Results. Open science suggests that every scientist or researcher who wants to immerse himself in the study of a particular topic has equal rights and equal opportunities to study all the research processes of other people. In addition, open science promotes the principles of transparency and accessibility of information. Open science also develops a fair and honest attitude to scientific work and the final results of research. The goal of open science is not only to strive for equal research and accessible for critical evaluation of research activities, but also, thanks to unification and professional communication, to achieve from science solutions to world problems that concern everyone. Conclusion. OS increases the transparency of research, expands the possibilities of communication, partnership and involvement in scientific projects, eliminates disciplinary barriers, strengthens the connection of science with society.
