Rezumat

Historical context determined the publication in 1940 of the manuscript of Ange Bally’s work Un ouvrage d’il y a un siécle sur la Bessarabie comme pays Moldave / A century-old work about Besssarabia as part of Moldova, by historian Nicolae Iorga, who had it form the granddaughter of the author. Nicolae Iorga succeeded to reconstitute a big part of the original that refers to administration and tsarist functionaries, though the manuscript had pages lost, especially the ones reflecting the history of Bessarabia (the first three decades of XIXth century). Though many were interested by the name of Ange Bally, we still do not have in-depth studies neither about the author nor about the book. Starting form scientific hypothesis launched by Nicolae Iorga, we can affirm that Ange Bally’s work Un ouvrage d’il y a un siécle sur la Bessarabie comme pays Moldave, surely can be considered one of the most important contributions to the knowledge of Bessarabia history „under Russians”. Related to historiographical context of the époque, it merges perfectly into the „new historical and political picture” of Moldavian Principate at the intersection of two centuries (XVIII- XIX) , including that part of the state that was annexed by the imperials and re-named, in 1812, Bessarabia.
