Rezumat

„Tell us a story, say the children; give us wings, help us, you who are strong and great, to fly far away; build us palaces of azure, in enchanted gardens, show us how fairies walk in the rays of the moon" (Paul Hazard). The term story is a derivative of the verb to stories and has different meanings. In a broad sense, it confuses with narrative as a way of exposure specific to the epic genre, because it refers to a process, a way of presenting a happening or a series of events. In a narrow sense, the story names a species of the short epic genre, along with sketch and novel, but which has specific defining features. As the stretch is closer to the novel, with which it is usually confused, but of which it is special. First, only one fact is reported, with the narrator's interest focusing on the reported situation, the action, not the character and his psychology as in the novel. Secondly, the account of the events is made from the point of view of the narrator who is a witness or direct participant in the events (events) told. Therefore, the narrator does not identify with the writer, either as a person or as an attitude, and the story of the events is made in the first person, which leads to a pronounced subjective note of the narrative's account.
