Bioactive compounds are extra nutritional constituents that typically occur in small quantities in foods. Their quantity is higher in different spices. In this review article we present some aspects of the sanogenic role of curcumin and capsaicin. The results of the scientific researches presented in the analyzed articles demonstrate that curcumin and capsaicin from food have anti-microbial, anti- inflammatory, anti-tumorigenic effects. Curcumin and capsaicin increasebasal metabolic rate, and decreases fat mass, canregulate lipid metabolism, which plays a central role in the development of obesity and its complications, have hypocholesteremic effect, improve obesity-associated diabetes. |
