Rezumat

Chlorophyll mutations serve as a common test in the studies for experimental mutagenesis of plants, mainly because they are relatively easy to monitor among a large number of test plants. According to the spectrum of chlorophyll mutations and their range it is possible to evaluate the effectiveness and specificity of mutagen action and the mutability of species. Two samples from the genetic collection of the Institute of Oilseed Crops NAAS – oil flax varieties Linum humile Mill., – Iceberg and Solnechny were used for the current study. Seeds were soaked in 0.05 and 0.5% aqueous solutions of the mutagens: DG-2, DG-6, DG-7, DG-9, DMS, and EMC for 16 hours. In our experiment the appearance of chlorophyll mutations was greatly dependent on the variety. Their highest rate was recorded for Solnechny variety. Iceberg variety in this respect proved to be more stable, probably due to its origin, as it was originally generated through radiation mutagenesis. In conclusion, we can say that seed treatments with DG-2, DG-6, DG-7, DG-9, DMS, and EMS mutagens resulted in various types of chlorophyll deficiency in M2 and M3 generations of flax. We recorded 8 types of chlorophyll changes: albina, viridis-albina, xantha, chlorina, viridis, lutescent, striata, and corroded.
