Статтю присвячено дослідженню розвитку розшукової діяльності на території Української держави за часів Козацької доби. Здійснено аналіз проведення розшуку в Запорізькій Січі, щоб скористатися ним в умовах будівництва незалежної, правової, демократичної Української держави сьогодні. Розглянуто деякі аспекти здійснення розшукової, розвідувальної та таємної діяльності. Досліджено особливості здійснення розшуку злочинця потерпілим та особливості його діяльності. Велике значення відведено законодавчій базі здійснюваного дослідження. Звернено увагу, що процес відокремлення правоохоронних органів у спеціальні структури державного механізму ще здійснювався, а також за часів Козацької доби відіграв вагому роль у формуванні національних ідеалів і правосвідомості українського суспільства

The article is devoted to the investigation of the development of search activity on the territory of the Ukrainian state during the Cossack era. An analysis of the search in Zaporizhzhya Sich was carried out in order to use it in the conditions of building an independent, legal, democratic Ukrainian state today. Some aspects of the search, intelligence and covert activities are considered. The peculiarities of the search of the criminal by the victim and the peculiarities of his activity are investigated. Great importance is given to the legislative base of the conducted research. It is noted that the process of separation of law enforcement agencies into special structures of the state mechanism was still underway. Also, during the Cossack era, he played a significant role in shaping national ideals and justice of Ukrainian society.
