Dinamica lumii de astăzi reprezintă, fără îndoială, o provocare pentru predarea-învăţarea istoriei în școală, în vederea adoptării unor strategii eficace şi inovative de cunoaştere a trecutului. Învăţarea centrată pe elev determină o mai bună înţelegere a trecutului şi le oferă tinerelor generaţii oportunitatea de a investiga subiecte care le sunt aproape, la care au participat bunicii sau părinţii lor, sau să redescopere locuri pe care le cunosc din copilărie. Proiectele la istorie sunt un prilej în plus de a dezvolta aptitudini şi valori comportamentale, de a aplica cunoştinţele dobândite şi de a-i orienta pe elevi spre o analiză critică, precum şi de a-i provoca să cerceteze istoria locală şi să experimenteze istoria orală. Articolul prezintă două exemple de proiecte la istoria modernă şi contemporană, care relevă puterea pe care o are această disciplină şcolară: de a schimba percepţia despre lume şi de a apropia generaţii.

The dynamics of today’s world are undoubtedly a challenge for the teaching and learning of history aiming to adopt an efficient and innovative strategy promoting knowledge of the past. Student-centered learning provides a better understanding of the past and gives young generations the opportunity to research topics that are familiar to them, having been experienced by their grandparents or parents, or to rediscover places they have known since childhood. History-based projects represent a possibility of developing attitudes and behavioral values, of implementing the acquired knowledge and of directing the students towards critical thinking, as well as of challenging them to study local history and to experience oral history. The article refers to two examples of projects made by students, based on modern and contemporary history classes, which denote the power of history as a school discipline: a power to change one’s perception about the world and to bring generations closer together
