Based on the classification developed at the State Hydrological Institute (State Hydrological Institute, St. Petersburg) and the concept of formation of channels of the Moscow State University (Moscow State University, Moscow), the classification of the Prut river channel process was performed. Seven morphologically homogeneous sections of the river valley, which characterize the conditions for the development of various types of the channel process, are revealed. Within these areas, three types of meandering were revealed: free meandering, unresolved meandering, and embedded meanders. The analysis of the influence of some climatic channel-forming factors on the development of these types of the channel process is carried out.
