For the present study the following were established: favorable synoptic conditions for the genesis of the main fog types; values of the main parameters of the mist; their impact on the economic activity of society; measures to mitigate the negative impact of dense and long-lasting mist. Thus, it has been determined that the most frequent mists are on high relief forms due to the adiabatic cooling of the air when lifting it on the slopes. On these forms of relief the annual number of days with fog is over 40-50 (includes the central part of the republic). A similar number of fog days are reported on average in the year and in the southeast of the republic - near the Nistru river, caused by the penetration of the winds on the coast during the cold period of the year. In the rest of the territory, the number of days with fog varies between 20 and 40 days a year. Throughout the year mists are the most common in December (6-11 days), and the most rare - in July. In the summer (June - August) the number of days with fog is very small or can be missed altogether. The duration of mist, as well as the number of days with fog on the territory of the republic is characterized by a large variety, oscilating between 160 and 430 hours per year. The longest are advetic fogs. |
