Insulin Resistance and Diastolic Dysfunction in the Patient with Arterial Hypertension
Arterial hypertension is a frequent risk factor which is involved in the morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular affections.
Insulin resistance occurs in more than 50% of patients with hypertension. Insulin resistance is associated with a lot of risk factors,
such as arterial hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes mellitus and microalbumin-uria. Hypertension is the main cause of left ventricule
diastolic dysfunction and has the highest prevalence among cardiovascular affections. In hypertensive patients impaired diastolic function may
occur in the absence of left ventricule hypertrophy. This review describes some physiopathogenetic features of insulin resistance and diastolic
dysfunction in the patient with arterial hypertension. |
