This article aims at exploring contemporary linguistic polite behaviour, starting from what the phrase “basic upbringing” means to current locutors, in relation to some of the precepts promoted by the Christian religion. In my markedly theoretical endeavour, I turn to methodology pertaining to psycholinguistics, pragmatics, conversation
theory and theology. |
