In the conditions in which the Republic of Moldova confronted during a long period with high and persistent rates of inflation and inflationary expectations of economic agents and population influenced significantly price level, the regime of monetary targeting limits the possibilities of the National Bank to influence inflationary expectations and to solve this problem.
In this respect, it is necessary to replace the existing regime with the regime of inflation targeting that is more adequate for attaining and maintaining price stability as final goal of monetary policy. |
