The novel „Sasa Kozac’s Realm” written by Iulian Ciocan brings a bleak outlook on post-Soviet transition in Bessarabia. Despite the declaration of independence and democracy, the Soviet life forms are descovered in the realities after ’89 as well. All the events of the story have a sugestive aspect, they point at something essential and significant from the Bessarabian socio-political context. The novel’s message is that the vile politics mutilated the Moldovans’ mentality and deprived them of other existential cues but the desperate effort to survive the transition.
