This article presents a descriptive analysis on foundation and regulations of emergency medical assistance service in different countries. For the first time in France, Dominique Jean Larray proposed to transport the wounded from the battlefield promptly to a hospital for providing medical assistance. The first emergency medical assistance service in Germany was organized in 1769. In the USA the emergency medical assistance service has been known since 1862 when the military surgeon Jonathan Letterman organized the first service transporting wounded persons. During the second half of the XIXth century our compatriot N.V. Sklifosovsky founded the emergency medical assistance service in the city of Moscow. We presented the structure of the emergency medical assistance service in different countries and some activity indicators. |
