After 30 years since the introduction of the national currency in the Republic of Moldova, it is appropriate to take a look at how the monetary reform was carried out and how the money circulation was subsequently organized. Of course, the key question is the evolution of the monetary unit from the point of view of purchasing power and the exchange rate. The policies promoted by the monetary authority, in the mentioned area, were not always coherent, adequate and successful. The core of the approach states in the behavior of the Moldovan leu at the current stage, slightly distorted in relation to the actual situation in the national and international economy. This is where the author's views on monetary policy and their perspectives emerge.
