Rezumat

Described historical overview, approaches and perspectives of communication gateway development between national scientific - educational networks of Republic of Moldova and Romania that is used also for providing access to Trans - European research and educational networking infrastructure GEANT for research and educational community of Moldova. These approaches are focused on development of basic aspects of regional and international connectivity like capacity, quality of services, multimedia streaming and distributed computing operation, GEANT community integration, research networking promotion taking in account the ability to enlarge joint R&E collaboration and extension of regional cross border fiber optics infrastructure in the Eastern Europe. For RENAM-RoEduNet cross-border gateway realization historically were used different solutions, however Cross-Border Fiber (CBF) is the most appropriate solution for creation of high performance, reliable and effective connection between national scientific - educational networks of neighborhood countries. Created connections and approached proposed for their development for integration of regional research and educational users' communities to Trans-European academic network GEANT are outlined.
