The research examines the question of investigating the relationship between attitudes towards illness and towards health, which are influenced by the same factors and may indicate predictors of sanogenetic behaviour, which has been little studied in samples of young people with a relatively good health status. The basic hypothesis of exploratory research is that sanogenetic behaviour can be measured by researching a person's attitudes toward illness and health. As a result of the research, a number of results have been identified. Age does not correlate either with the attitude towards the disease or with the attitude towards health. The attitude towards health does not differ according to the place of living, but city dwellers show a higher level of adaptation to the disease than rural subjects. The level of education proved to be very important, positively influencing the attitude towards health but also negatively influencing the attitude towards the disease, conditioning mistrust in medical treatment. The positive attitude towards health provides an easier adaptation to the disease, relating positively to the constructive types of the attitude towards the disease (harmonious, ergopathic). It is ascertained about the current trends in the formation of a value attitude towards a healthy lifestyle among young people. The value of health is one of the most significant for the young. At the same time, it is mentioned that for young people, the general culture of maintaining and promoting a healthy lifestyle is in the process of formation, recommending the promotion of various methods of health education. |
