This article is based on the results of field research conducted by the author in the villages of the Republic of Moldova, where the Lipovans live compactly. Funeral and memorial rites are an integral part of the rites of the life cycle. In the course of interviewing informants from such villages as Kunicha, Egorovka, Pokrovka, and others, a number of features of the various stages of this ritualism were revealed – pre-funeral, funeral and memorial. The group of rituals and traditions under consideration is better preserved than maternity and wedding rituals. |
