Rezumat

Isonicotinic or benzoic acid hydrazide and pyruvic acid react with cobalt, nickel, copper, and zinc halides in ethanol to form the coordination compounds M(L-H)X·nH2O, M(L′-H)X·nH2O [M = Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; L = NC5H4C(O)NHN=C(CH3)COOH; L′ = C6H5C(O)NHN=C(CH3)COOH; X = Cl, Br; n = 0-3] and M(L-H)2·nH2O, M(L′-H)2·nH2O (M = Co, Ni; n = 1, 2). The structure of the complexes is octahedral for Co and Ni, square-planar for Cu, and tetrahedral for Zn. In all the compounds hydrazones L and L′ act as monobasic tridentate ligands. Thermolysis of the substances involves removal of outer-sphere (70-100°C) and inner-sphere (160-175°C) water, followed by exhaustive thermooxidative degradation (370-510°C).
