The first year of life is characterized by the most spectacular evolution of major anthropometric parameters affecting the main parameters of garments. Moreover, during the same period the child evolves in movements and passes from horizontal position to vertical. This also affects the structure of garments, their construction and properties. The group of wearers considered by the study is subjected to the risks of accidents and very sensible to the environmental factors, therefore, the design and manufacturing of garments for infants must comply with a set of well-formulated rules, compulsory for all manufacturers. The problem of designing and manufacturing quality garments for the small wearers – newborns and infants is complicated by the difficulties in determining the constructive segments in the patterns and nomenclature of constructive and hygienic requirements to the products. The work considered the problem of determining the constructive parameters in the view of the evolution of physical development indicators and main morphological characteristics – waist, body weight, perimeters of chest and skull over a population of 20 infants (10 girls and 10 boys). These indicators allow determining the main dimensions and the body shapes for designing the clothing of adequate dimensions and shapes for the target group of wearers. For all subjects considered by the study the main morphological indicators have been determined with subsequent monitoring of evolution during the first year of life. One may conclude that the newborns and the infants in the Republic of Moldova are well suited into the normal anthropometric development characteristics and this fact allows to use the anthropometric standards elaborated in other countries, since there are no national standards in this domain. |
