Rezumat

The unconventional (5S,7R,8S,9R,10S)-configurated (-)-7-(acetyloxy)-12,12- dichloro-8-hydroxy-13,14,15,16-tetranorlabdan-11-one (2) was synthesized via the HCl-promoted hydrolysis of (7α)-7,8-(isopropylidenedioxy)-14,15- dinorlabdan-11,13-dione (5). Possible mechanistic pathways of the reaction are considered. Crystal and molecular structures of the isolated compound 2 were determined by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis.
