One of the topical problems of the archeology of the South of the Republic of Moldova is the problem of studying the late medieval antiquities of Budjak. As a result of field research in the 80-90s of the XX century in the areas of construction and operation of meliorative systems, as well as in the process of compiling the Code of Archaeological Monuments in the southern steppe zone of the Republic of Moldova, a number of cemeteries of the late Middle Ages were discovered in the Budjak steppe.
