Lyophilization is one of the most used methods of long-term preservation of microorganisms. The viability of freeze-dried microorganisms depends on several factors, including the parameters used in the freeze-drying process, which can significantly alter the viability of cultures after freeze-drying. In this study, it was demonstrated that the freezing temperature of Fusarium fungal strains used in the freeze-drying process plays an important role on their viability after freeze-drying. Thus, the viability of Fusarium cultures after lyophilization, when using the freezing temperature of -20oC varied within the limits of 76-89.8%, compared to the initial titer, and when using the freezing temperature -50oC from 92.2% to 96%. |
