The creativity of the Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk, a native of Bukovyna, is well known both to the residents of Ukraine and the whole world. And mainly Ivasyuk's songs gained the fame among every generation of ukrainians. The secret of such success is that the motives of the songs are indeed very close to folklore and contain distinct ethnic elements. Volodymyr grew up in a family that greatly respected folklore and folk art elements. Volodymyr Ivasyuk's father was an outstanding writer and folklorist. He collected folk and little-known fairy tales in Bukovyna. For example, Ivasyuk's most famous song – “Chervona Ruta” from 1970. The song is almost an unofficial anthem of Ukraine. And the red rue flower has long been perceived as a symbol of pure and eternal love. The leitmotif of the folk legend is that a girl who finds a red rue and gives it to a young boy will be happy in love. Ivasyuk successfully plays with this legend, using in his poem such images as “sadness”, “hope”, “dream”, “beauty”, and on the other hand, depicts the magical world of the Carpathian nature and folk fortune-telling and beliefs about the power of love. Heworked on the song for three years (from 1967 to 1970). The image of the ukrainian mother was created by Volodymyr Ivasyuk in the songs “Cranes flew away” and “Ballad of mallows”. There was something tragically prophetic about this song. In general, Volodymyr Ivasiuk not only created his own songs, but also arranged folk songs.
