Background. The cuneiform defect is a non-carious polyethiological affection, which appears after the eruption, which is manifested by damage to the hard dental tissues. At present there are no unanimous opinions regarding its etiopathogenesis. Clinical studies show that a major role is played by occlusal overload and bruxism. Objective of the study. Evaluation of the etiological aspects of the cuneiform defect, realization of the complex treatment. Material and Methods. 15 patients were examined, 9 women, 6 men aged 25-65 years. These patients were examined clinically by inspection, probing, thermometry and coloration, and paraclinically by occlusography, photostatic and radiological examination. Results. It was shown that 33.3% of men had bruxism, while in women it was detected in 22.2% of cases, 83.3% of men, and 66.6% of women with cuneiform defects had occlusal overload. Conclusion. The cuneiform defect may be present in patients with static and dynamic occlusal overloads, as well as in patients with bruxism. The treatment tactic was complex with occlusal rebalancing and direct restoration. |
