The main task of public procurement authorities in the field of public procurement is to ensure the use of public funds based on the principles of economy, efficiency and effectiveness in order to achieve the objectives of obtaining an optimal price-quality ratio, as well as efficient management of public assets. It is well known that transparent public procurement sets the tone for good governance. In the Republic of Moldova, public procurement remains a vulnerable area to irregularities, fraud and corruption, which amplifies the role of civil society in overseeing the way in which it is conducted. The lack of transparency of the procurement process, corruption, lack of electronic means and the low degree of professionalism of the actors involved are the major problems of the public procurement system. All this has negative effects on the development of social and economic infrastructure, the provision of public services and the increase of the confidence of citizens and the business environment in state institutions.
