The aim of the current research was to study the tactics of management of pregnant females suffered of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL). Materials and methods: Five hundred and ten fertile women with HL had been followed up and treated at the Hematologic Center between 1965 and 2010. Two hundred and thirty-two pregnancies were supervised in 180 of these patients. The repeated pregnancies were registered in 52 patients. Results: Of 57 pregnant patients with the active disease, 39 were delivered of a child and other 18 underwent medical abortion. All these patients experienced the progression of HL during the pregnancy or thereafter. One hundred and seventy-five pregnancies occurred in 123 females with the remission of HL. The pregnancy was interrupted in 72 cases. One hundred and three pregnant women were delivered of a child. The progression of HL was observed in 27 (15%) patients. Of these 27 patients, 15 were delivered of a child and 12 underwent the medical abortion. The relapses occurred more frequently (89%) within the first three years of remission, and were observed significantly seldom (11%) at fourth and fifth year of remission. No relapses have occurred after 6 years of remission. Conclusions: In pregnant females with the active HL, or with the partial and short-term complete remission of HL the medical abortion is reasonable to be performed. The pregnancy may be maintained in cases of stable remission for 4, 5 and more years. |
