<description xml:lang='en' descriptionType='Abstract'><p>The subject tackled by the author in the present article refers to the importance of continuing professional development of librarians and specialists from information field and to the necessities imposed by the progresses from information technologies&rsquo; domain and great changes that have been made in most of the fields of activity, inclusively in the info-librarian institutions. The author tries to elucidate the impediments and obstacles the librarians and libraries face with concerning the problem of continuing professional development. The author makes a comparative study of the specialists&rsquo; professional training from European info &ndash;librarian institutions and the situation of librarians from the Republic of Moldova.</p></description>
