The article considers the results of research of the meaning of Budjak in the Image of the Past of the Gagauzes. Budjak is not only real, but also the symbolic space. The sense of the objects of the symbolical space depends on system of meanings. This system of meanings can be called by the cultural project of a civilization. Some regions are under cross cultural influence. Budjak is located in the South of the Prut-Dniester interfluve. The Turkic people replaced each other in the territory of Budjak. Now Budjak gained value of the center of the world of Gagauz. Symbolic development of the area of Budjak manifested in the appearance of books on the history of towns and villages, in the emergence of myths which explain toponyms.
