Since the “Schlieffen’s plan” remained a subject of admiration of German generals during decades, its recurrence was originally planned also in 1940 – i.e. to inflict the main blow via Belgium. In case of the German approach, it was also expected by the English and French generals. But this time as “guarantee” of its prompt performance have served the armoured and motorized armies, and also the massed application of aircraft. Rout of the western coalition has changed a geopolitic situation in the Europe. Quickly having liberated the armed forces, the Reich has begun preparation for new aggressive campaigns – to capture of the Balkans and an attack to the USSR.
