In this article the problem of the artishereception of a literary image is presented as part of the research on the poems of the Russian modernist poet Aleksandr Blok, that contain the image of Hamlet, the main character of the well-known Shakespearian play. A number of aspects that affect the artishereception are discussed and illustrated with example, one of them being the reception and interpretation of the Shakespearian tragedy in the world and in the Russian literature, translation and theatre during a long period of history. There is also explained the Blok’s autobiographical background, that is an important aspect in understanding the originality of his reception of the famous literary image.
