The present study pay attention of the public as concerns a report on the situation of monasteries from Chişinău and Hotin Diocese, elaborated by Exarch of monasteries and hermitages from Bessarabia, Archimandrite Theognost Donos. This document is important both of its descriptive content where it provides us details on the situation in Bessarabian monasteries, paying attention of life of monks and nuns. The summary concludes with a statistical description of dwellers movement in the 16 monasteries subordinated to him from the beginning of 1908 until early 1909. Giving details about both leaving monasteries for various reasons, and dwellers elevation of a monastic clergy rank. Thus, based on the information from the framework of this report we can reveal the tendencies which persisted at the begining of the XXth century in the monastic life from Bessarabia and the impact which had on the development of monasticism in the decades that followed.
