In this study, the impressions of the famous traveler Evliya Çelebi about the Bender Castle is presented. One of the places Evliya Celebi visited is the teritory of Moldova/Bogdan. He visited this region between 1658 and 1661 and described it in the 5th and 7th volumes of his work. The traveler, who provided detailed information about Moldova, also devoted 5-6 pages in his work to Bender, which is an edge castle. In this paper, the general image of Bender in the middle of the 17th century, including history, place and people, is described and based on what the traveler told. |
