Cancer is one of the leading causes of global morbidity and mortality, as the number of new cases is expected to increase in the coming decades. The American Institute for Cancer, Research and the World Cancer Research Fund has estimated that 30-40% of all cancers can be prevented with adequate diet, physical activity, and maintaining a proper body weight [1]. Obesity, nutritional products (such as sugar and refined products) that disrupt glucose metabolism, fat consumption, red meat, and an omega-3 and omega 6 imbalance, all contribute to excessive cancer risk but fruit, vegetables and seeds, in particular signatures in, significantly reduce the risk of developing cancer. Anyway there are protective elements in cancer prevention what they include selenium, sulfophane (broccoli), folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin D, chlorophyll and antioxidants such as carotenoids (α-carotene, β-carotene, lycopene, lutein, cryptoxanthin). When a diet is formulated according to the guidelines listed above, there would contribute at reduce breast cancer colorectal,cancer and prostate cancer by 60-70% and even a 40-50% decrease in lung cancer, and other cancers. |
