The author describes the social category of ‘posadnici’ and tries to offer an etymological explanation of this term and its provenience, also describing the posadnici which affected directly the region of Soroca and were mentioned in different documents of that time. At the same time, the author mentions they could be the later ‘parcalabi’ or ‘dregatori’ and ‘posada’ would be a fortress’s or a borough’s suburb, ‘posadnici’ being its administrators. The article also presents the lineage of Toader and Coste, the sons of Stan Posadnic.
