Background. Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is generated by disturbances in woman’s body due to the state of gestation. Hyperemesis gravidarum is the most severe form and is a socio-medical problem that affects 0.3-2% of pregnant woman, is the most common cause of hospitalization in the first trimester. Objective of the study. Evaluation of the risk factors and of the efficiency of treatment in nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. Material and Methods. In order to achieve the proposed goal, the analysis of the literature review was performed through the following databases: MEDLINE, PubMed, CENTRAL, EMBAE, using 78 studies. Results. According to the literature, nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is a multifactorial disease, involving genetic, endocrine and gastrointestinal factors. Existing therapeutic strategies are supportive and consist of the administration of antiemetics, antihistamines, anticholinergies, fluids and measures aimed at preventing complications. Some authors have reported that B grup vitamins reduce the severity of symptoms, suggesting their superiority over placebo. A Cohrane review concluded that there was insufficient evidence to support the superiority of one therapeutic intervention over another in the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy. Conclusion. The efficacy of B grup vitamins in the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy has been addressed in studies published in the literature. Further studies are needed to establish the relationship between clinical symptoms and the level of B vitamins, as well as their effectiveness in the treatment. |
