The field of social investments, which means both financial and non-financial contributions, aimed at achieving, first, a positive social effect, is widespread in the practice of many progressive West and Europe countries. The legislative acts of these countries provide for different notions and forms of social investment: social impact investment, sustainable investment, responsible investment and others.
In the Republic of Moldova, the notion of social investments is not regulated by law at state level, as was done, for example, in the partner countries of the Republic of Moldova, which are also providers of such investments for Moldovan society.
The development of the legislative basis, which will define the notions and will clearly delimit social investments from other forms of investments, will contribute to favoring the investment climate in the social sphere and will create new possibilities for foreign and domestic investors.
