Background. Polytraumas represent approximately 16% of all traumas and are burdened by a still high mortality (15-50%), being the main cause of death in the population under 40 years and the third cause of death at all ages. Objective of the study. Evolutionary and surgical retrospective analysis of severely traumatized patients with dominance of musculoskeletal lesions. Material and Methods. Retrospective study carried out on the analysis of medical records in the period 2015-2020 of polytraumatized patients treated in the traumatology and orthopedics units of Institute of Emergency Medicine (IEM). Results. 27 polytrauma patients were hospitalized repeatedly in the orthopedics and traumatology departments for surgical assistance (removal of synthetic material). The assessment of management in polytraumatized patients, during 2015-2020, over the years has resulted in a satisfactory outcome in 18 patients; 2 patients with pseudoarthrosis of the long tubular bones (femur, tibia) required a stable rheosteosynthesis of the traumatized segments and a patient was treated in septic trauma unit. Of the total number of polytraumatized patients, 24 (29.2%) were transferred on the AviaSan from districts and municipalities in the country. Conclusion. The treatment of polytraumas with dominance of the locomotor requires a rigorous assessement with associated traumas, the assessment of the severity according to the evaluation scales. The surgeries were performed according to the principles of stable osteosynthesis. |
