The article presents the necessity for improving health workers’ migration management, based on a comprehensive study regarding the situation of Republic of Moldova health professionals working in the medical system of Romania, factors motivating emigration, professional integration of these persons, as well as the migrants’ return perspectives from Romania. To get to know the above-mentioned aspects, a complex methodology was used: analysis of statistical data was completed with data collected with the help of sociological research methods (quantitative and qualitative). The research covered different groups of social stakeholders: (i) representatives of central public authorities from Romania (Ministry of National Education, Ministry of Health), (ii) representatives of professional associations from Romania in medical area, (iii) representatives of local authorities, health divisions, managers of medical institutions from Romania, and (iv) health workers originating from Republic of Moldova, who work in the Romanian health system.
