The problems of freedom and progress holds special place in the historical conceptions of
Berdyaev. Berdyaev distinguishes three forms of freedom: unrational freedom that is arbitrary
actions; rational freedom that is execution of moral duty; and freedom, which is imbued with the
love of God. Freedom is not created by the God, but He is born from this freedom and from
Something, which potentially contains within itself All, He creates the world. Progress turns
each human generation, each epoch of history into means. There is no progress of human
happiness in history, there is only tragic, more and more discovery of the internal principles of
being.
