The concept of metaphor at Sigmund Freud and the differences in its use within his theoretical system can be found in today's psychotherapy. If Freud follows the traditional scheme of metaphor, through which the meanings are transferred from a primary object, usually familiar, to a secondary object, foreign or perceived as foreign, in contemporary psychotherapy, the relevance of the metaphor comes from the fact that the verbal or nonverbal language used by the patient is an indicator of the content of his thinking; Starting from the cues detected in his speech, the therapist can build a starting point for the therapeutic plan. Thus, the metaphorical approach being a creative one, unlocks the creative energy of the patient, pushing him to seek resources for change alone. |
