In times when archaeology was an emerging discipline and dominated by men, some women made significant contributions to the field, many of them being forgotten or less mentioned during the years. Behind men familiar with archaeology, dedicated to discover and study of artifacts, sometimes pioneer women were present too. They were motivated by passion, courage and had a good knowledge. Women approached with tenacity the miraculous universe of material historic traces from the human civilization. Being bold, determinated, eager to travel and with a strong spirit of adventure, ladies of early archaeology crossed foreign and far away countries, digging and exploring for finding material evidence that could recreate the past of lost civilizations. Through their work and mission, women's impressive life stories marked and developed this field, invalidating prejudices.
