Report reflects the result of investigation of metal phthalocyanine nanostructures growth, morphology and gas sensing properties. By taking advantage of the inherent trend of phthalocyanine molecules to selforganize into molecular stacks, the growth parameters of metal phthalocyanines films can be tuned in such a way that “web-like” structures composed of cross-linked organic nanowires form. These planar selforganized nanostructures, possessing very high specific surface area were tested as chemiresistors and demonstrated the excellent sensing and selective performance to NOx gases near room temperature. It is concluded that designed nanostructures can be considered as a cost effective nanoscale platform for environmental pollutant monitoring, explosives detection, and biomedical diagnostics. |
