Between 1980–1991, the fine artist Andrieș Bucov collaborated with Moldovan publishing houses: „Literatura artistică”, „Lumina”, „Știința”, „Cartea moldovenească”, „Plakat”. This article is devoted to the study of book graphics signed by the fine artist Andrieș Bucov during the creative period in Chisinau. Collaborating by cumulating with Moldovan publishing houses, Andrieș Bucov illustrated a series of books of literature of different genres: novels, short stories, poems, scientific literature, etc. These include his illustrations to the poetry of his father, Emilian Bucov, the creation of Rómulo Gallegos, Ernest Hemingway, Meša Selimović, etc. The constructive-decorative application of black and white both as compositional elements and to highlight the areas of light and shadow, emphasizes the rhythm and sonority of the subjects approached by the artist. The pictoriality of the forms and the plastic representation of the human figures represented tonally or linearly, the alternation of the static with the dynamic are the key elements that form the imaginary character of the graphic art of Andrieș Bucov. The plastical precision of the compositions of the illustrations created by Andrieș Bucov completes the symbolic character of the subjects approached by the artist.
