Rezumat

School defined as an institution intended for training and education the young generation, involves the co-operation of many factors, among which there is at the forefront the couple teacher-student. This relationship highlights the meaning of the teacher’s social function. In contemporary society the teacher is no longer just a source of information. The teacher is situated in a relationship system that goes beyond the school included the community in the middle of which he operates, which increases the complexity of the teacher’s work and accentuating the role and cherishing the degree of responsability of his actions.
Traditionalist, the role of the teacher is to keep the knowledge and transmit it to the young generation. The teacher is currently a dynamic social agent, active and responsible participant in school life and in the social community he belongs to, contributing through his work to all the changes that take place in it. The personality of the teacher influences younger generations and thereby the future of a nation. Through his responsible work by modeling young people, the teacher enriches the society in which he operates. The professional activity of a teacher does not reside within the school, it continues beyond too. Being a teacher is not a profession, it is a vocation. Today’s teacher is a real agent of change, preparing students in this perspective which is becoming more and more in a dimension of contemporary man.
