Rezumat

The dynamics of moisture loss of during the pre-harvest period were analyzed at 20 selfpollinated lines. The location of the experience made it possible to identify the potential rate of loss of moisture from the grains on the favorable hydrothermal background of the Republic of Moldova. The results of the research showed that the moisture of corn kernels, when harvested, is due to the two elements: early flowering or early maturity and the ability to rapidly lose moisture during the ripening period. The role of each of these traits depends on the conditions of the vegetation period corresponding to the maize. On a favorable hydrothermal background, the moisture content of the grain is largely determined by the rate of moisture loss. However, with relatively high air humidity and low air temperature, the early flowering of the panicle plays an important role, and the genetic differences between the lines in terms of the rate of moisture loss are significantly matched. Therefore, the short vegetation period has the priority characteristic in maize growth for the northern area of corn sowing, and the ability of maize hybrids to rapidly lose moisture offers additional technological advantages and guarantees the use of hybrids in different environmental conditions.
